FLAMING WORD – P19

1 Samuel 17:15

And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days.

The army of Israel would be up every morning to the voice of Goliath, the Philistine. As if that was not enough, come evening, and there he was again, intensifying fear in the camp of God’s people. That is how the devil plays. And this went on for forty days.

The number forty stands for test and trial. For forty days and nights, Israel was tested. As Christians, we go through our “forty days,” a period of trial and testing. These trials come in various forms. One thing you can be sure of, though, the devil will keep on repeating his threats with the aim of stealing, killing, and destroying one’s faith in God.

The number forty also signifies preparation and transformation.

2 Corinthians 4:17
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

The challenges, tests, trials, and afflictions—God calls them light compared to the glory that is about to be revealed. Goliath can go on making noise. My “forty days” is preparing me for that great transformation of God’s power and glory. What was intended to destroy me is rather working for me a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. The glory far surpasses the affliction! Hallelujah!

2 Corinthians 1:4
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

By the comfort we are comforted, we comfort others. That is why testimonies are very important in the body of Christ. Let’s not keep silent. Tell of His wondrous works. Lift others up.

Beloved, beyond Goliath’s roar and the weight of fear is a weight of glory. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. The days and nights of affliction are preparing us for a great transformation. It is well.

Shalom.
