FLAMING WORD – P9
JUDGES 14:8-9
“And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass of the lion.
And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told them not that he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion.”
It was time for Samson to perform the necessary marriage rites for his would-be wife. He took a moment to check on the end of that which had roared against him. There it lay, a carcass.
Yet, right in the carcass, there were bees making honey!
Any life situation that roars against us will eventually end up lying dead and powerless, in Jesus’ name. Out of that which comes against us will arise testimonies so sweet. Food gives strength, and just as Samson ate of the honey, we will be empowered by the testimony of our victory over the very things that were intended to consume us.
But Samson didn’t eat the honey alone. He remembered his parents, who were also his spiritual parents, guiding him into his divine purpose (Judges 13:12).
When you are blessed, don’t forget your biological parents.
When you are blessed, don’t forget your spiritual parents.
For many, being a blessing to their biological parents is no problem because they remember the sacrifices made for them growing up.
However, the sacrifices of spiritual parents are often overlooked. They pray incessantly, intercede for us, and bear the brunt of spiritual attacks so that their spiritual children can be established! The financial sacrifices, energy, time, words of encouragement, counseling sessions, and emotional toil—everything to stand with their spiritual children in their times of need. When, by God’s grace, bees gather in the carcass and produce honey, and they begin to enjoy it, many forget the spiritual parents who labored in prayer for them. The devil deceives them into thinking they got there by their own strength and efforts.
Galatians 6:6: Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
It is the word of God that spiritual parents continuously speak over our lives that brings about the good things. We are to share the dividends of those blessings with them.
Samson’s parents didn’t have to ask for some honey. He gave it to them willingly, of his own volition. Likewise, let’s not make beggars of our pastors.
Hebrews 13:17 teaches us that our spiritual parents watch over our souls. We are to help them do so with joy, not with grief, by obeying them. In our obedience, we communicate all good things as well.
Our pastors are well deserving of honey too.
Shalom.
