1 JOHN 1:5
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
The gospel we received is light. It took away the darkness from our hearts. That is the message we heard of God. Now He has made us messengers of what we heard in the beginning; we are messengers of light.
Our assignment is to declare the light of God to this dark world. The light of God is the power that translated us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. That power, that light is what we are to declare, proclaim, tell others about, preach about!
Isaiah 9:2
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Many are dwelling in the land of the shadow of death. They are alive in the natural but spiritually they are dead; eternal death or damnation is what awaits them.
Knowing this, should we water down the gospel? Should we say something else besides the truth? Should we compromise the faith we once received, by which we are saved?
John continues to say, “God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.” There is no darkness in God. If the gospel I am preaching has some darkness, some compromises, then I am not declaring or preaching Christ and Him crucified.
Remember, we preach not only by word but also by deed. Whatever I do as an usher, choirister, Sunday School teacher, preacher, pastor’s wife, whatever I find myself doing for God and His kingdom, must show the light of God in me. There must be no darkness at all, such as lying, gossiping, backbiting, lack of commitment, etc. We can’t help build the kingdom of God with dark lifestyles.
Remember, God is light, and in Him is no darkness AT ALL. Declare His light.
